Total Metals was founded in 1998 by its current Chairman, Steven Fisher, as part of a business incubator program he had established in Chandler, Arizona. Mr. Fisher, an Aerospace Engineering graduate of the University of Oklahoma, began his business career in 1972 upon joining Space Data Corporation an aerospace firm in Phoenix which developed various missile and space application systems for NASA and the Military. Mr. Fisher became Space Data’s President in 1976 and until his acquisition of Space Data in 1985, Space Data’ government business was kept at a relative constant size-$5 million in annual sales with 75 employees- while in parallel it purchased, built up, and later sold off numerous commercial small businesses in such diverse fields as computer systems, personal hand-held metal detectors, emergency locator systems, and lawn furniture.

After purchasing Space Data in 1985 from its founder, Mr. Fisher expanded Space Data’s government business over the next three years to an operation with sales over $40 million annually and 300 employees. In 1988, Mr. Fisher merged Space Data with Orbital Sciences where he helped take the combined entities public in 1990. After retiring in 1991 from the Aerospace business, Mr. Fisher, an entrepreneur at heart, began a business incubator to found a number of commercial businesses in such diverse areas as real estate development, open wheel racing, energy conservation systems, global positioning satellite applications to the golf industry, and a specialty architectural metals company in 1998 he named Total Metals. Total Metals was formed implementing the business principals Mr. Fisher had found to be a successful combination; putting together and maintaining a talented management team, establishing a workplace that attracted and retained quality employees, establishing a business reputation based on quality performance, helping customers solve their problems, establishing a team that did not fear a high growth rate, being able to solve problems and overcome obstacles faster than your competitors, continuously look at expanding your capabilities, and outperforming your customer’s expectations. Based on these business principals, Total Metals has enjoyed a growth rate greater than 25% annually since its founding.

Mr. Fisher has established a senior management team that brings over 125 years combined experience in the architectural specialty metals field to Total Metals. The President of the company is Mr. David Brackney, whose responsibilities include overall company direction as well as personally handling the contracts administration for the company. Mr. Brackney has been a member of the Fisher team since 1985 where he served Space Data/Orbital Sciences as the contract administrator/procurement chief on contracts totaling over 100 million dollars annually. Mr. Byron Capp serves as Director of Business Development bringing over 30 years of experience in all phases of the specialty metals business. Mr. Capp’s team is responsible for all estimates that Total Metals provides to its customers. Mr. James Wilkinson, Director of Engineering and Project Management, brings over 25 years experience to the Total Metals team in Engineering design and project management of specialty metals applications to both small and large projects.. Mr. Fil Navarrette serves as Director of Field Operations, bringing over 25 years experience in Field Operations to Total Metals. Mr. Navarrette has extensive experience over the installation of speciality metals products ranging from standing seam metal roofing to ACM wall panel systems. Mr. Sean Derivan, Director of Manufacturing, brings over 20 years experience in machine shop and manufacturing operations as well as project scheduling experience to the company. The final member of the Total Metals Management Team leading the financial and computer systems technology areas is Ms. Julie Fisher, Chief Financial Officer, whose responsibilities also include human resources and banking relationships.

Total Metals occupies a modern 25,000 square foot facility in Chandler, Arizona. This facility houses the Total Metals administration offices as well as being equipped with the latest state of the art manufacturing equipment used for the production of our product lines.
